DJ Barrick Gold In Talks For Russian Assets-Report

(Comtex Business Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)MOSCOW, Feb 20, 2006 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) --Canadian miner Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) is in talks to buy the Russian and Kazakh gold assets of Russia's ZAO Renova Group, Russian newspaper Vedomosti reported Monday.



The assets include licenses held by the Koryakgeodobycha mining company to the Ametistovye, Aginskoye, Bolshoy Zolotoy, and Baranyevsky fields in Russia's far-eastern Kamchatka region. Renova also owns 25% of Kazakhstan's Charaltyn.

The assets could be worth from $200 to $500 million depending on their level of depletion, Russian news agency Interfax said.
