Content for this year's conference will appeal to attendees with all levels of Asterisk experience, from beginner to advanced. Featured sessions include:

  • Go-ing ARI, presented by Seán C. McCord of CyCore Systems, shows the new Asterisk ARI being used with the exciting programming language called Go.
  • Evan McGee of RingPlus will discuss Getting Your Asterisk In Gear: Web Services Edition. He will share ways to integrate Asterisk into a larger ecosystem of web services using solutions like Docker, Redis, Kafka and Adhearsion.
  • Grant Broomhall & Mike Walton of Far South Networks are presenting Asterisk and the Social Internet of Things. Learn how and why Asterisk participates with humans in a Social IoT network based on WebRTC, SIP over web sockets and Node.js.
  • Jonathan Merrell of Synnex will present Converting a Fortune 500 Company to Asterisk, where he will discuss Synnex converting its entire company into a single global Asterisk system, what that entailed and what the results show.

"We have been inundated with talk proposals, and our guests will get to hear from Asterisk Community members with a wealth of experience in making Asterisk solutions for the real world," said David Duffett, worldwide community director for the Asterisk Project. "The number of proposals we've received demonstrates the excellent vibrancy of the Asterisk Community which is now 17-years old and continues to grow."

Along with Asterisk, AstriCon will feature sessions from other open source projects including FreePBX, FreeSwitch, OpenSIPS and Kamailio. Inclusion of these projects is further indication of the cooperative nature of the broader open source communications community.

"Anticipation is high for this year's AstriCon," said Duffett. "There are so many great sessions, not only about Asterisk, but about how using other tools can enhance and facilitate the use of Asterisk to make valuable solutions. This holds true whether your requirements are for a regular PBX, large, scalable, resilient systems, or anything in between."

AstriCon 2016 is sponsored by Platinum Sponsors BiCom Systems, Vitelity and Teli; and by Gold Sponsors Grandstream, Sangoma, Call Cabinet and Flowroute. Additional sponsors include Loway, XORCOM, Teledynamics, OrecX, Sennheiser, Easy on Hold, Cepstral, NETXUSA, Jenne and Tokgate.
