Dibena expects software sales to rise this year
(Business Times (Malaysia) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)PRIVATELY-HELD Dibena Enterprise Sdn Bhd, a maker of software for smart cards, expects sales to rise by at least 15 per cent this year, led by ongoing projects in local and overseas markets.
The firm, spearheaded by executive chairman-cum-chief executive officer Datuk Hanifah Noordin, is among the team members in the Government Multipurpose Card Project or MyKad project.
The others are Computer Systems Advisers (M) Bhd, Iris Corp Bhd, Tricubes Bhd and Unisys (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
Dibena supplies machines to the National Registration Department and Immigration Department and maintains them. It also makes software for the machines to ensure data transfer runs smoothly.
Dibena made a net profit of RM20 million on RM50 million revenue last year.
"We want to make identification cards for the transport, health, education and telecommunication industries. We are also targeting electronic passports projects overseas and bidding for deals in Qatar and Mongolia," Hanifah said after launching the new name for its recently-acquired subsidiary, Datasonic Corp Sdn Bhd, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
