Delegation of EBRD Board of Directors visits Macedonia [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]

(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The EBRD said in a statement that a delegation of its Board of Directors will visit Macedonia on October 19-22. The EBRD representatives will visit Skopje and the Bank's clients and business partners in Ohrid, Prilep and Kavadarci.

The directors will meet Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov; deputy PM and minister of finance Zoran Stavreski; deputy PM for economic affairs Vladimir Peshevski; deputy PM for European affairs Fatmir Besimi; central bank governor Dimitar Bogov; minister without portfolio in charge of FDI Vele Samak; the CEO of the industrial zones' directorate Viktor Mizo; as well as Radmila Shekerinska, vice-president of the biggest opposition party SDSM.

Since 1993, the EBRD has signed more than 80 projects in Macedonia with a net cumulative business volume of over EUR 1.1bn.

We remind that in Q3 2014 the EBRD said it considers extending to Macedonia two large transportation infrastructure loans worth combined EUR 305mn. The first is a sovereign loan of up to EUR 145mn to fund the construction of a new section of Pan European Rail Corridor VIII in the country. The other is a sovereign guaranteed loan of up to EUR 160mn to finance the bulk of the investment in four national road sections in Macedonia. The target board date for both loans is November 11, 2014.

We also remind that Macedonia's public debt reached EUR 4.0bn (46.8% of projected 2014 GDP) at end-August.
