Dayton Power & Light Company Foundation Awards Signature Grants totaling $325,000 to Local Organizations


The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation today is presenting five Signature Grants for new or innovative programs or projects to Miami Valley organizations.

This is the second year the DP&L Foundation has awarded Signature Grants to support our partners in the community. Signature Grants - at least one at the $100,000 plus level and one at the $50,000 plus level - are one-year contributions.

The Signature Grants are part of 55 community grants totaling more than $1.2 million awarded to organizations at the end of 2014 by the DP&L Foundation Board.

The recipients of the 2015 Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation Signature Grants are:

  • Crayons to Classrooms - $50,000 to renovate and relocate to a larger space to serve a greater number of teachers and students.
  • Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley - $50,000 to help support a new employment initiative to help people break out of the poverty cycle.
  • Rebuilding Together Dayton - a $50,000 grant to expand the revitalization program for Westwood neighborhood.
  • American Red Cross Dayton Area - $75,000 to support disaster relief service in the Dayton, Northern Miami Valley, Clinton County and Mason County, Kentucky areas.
  • Dayton Children's Hospital - $100,000 to fund construction of a new patient tower.



More than 200 DPL employees also volunteer their time and talents in community organizations each year.

"DP&L Foundation Signature Grants show DP&L's continuing commitment to making a difference for our customers and the communities we serve," said DPL President Derek A. Porter.


"Through DP&L Foundation contributions that strengthen our community's workforce education, health and wellness and arts and culture, Signature Grants are transforming lives in Ohio," said Foundation Board Chairman Tim Rice.

Since The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation was founded in 1985, it has awarded in excess of $33 million in grants.
