D-Link Now Offers Microsoft Response Point Service Pack 2 Technology for VoiceCenter IP Phone System

OAKVILLE, ON, Mar 18, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- D-Link Canada, the end-to-end network solutions provider for consumers and business, today announced that Microsoft(R) Response Point(TM) Service Pack 2 (SP2) upgrade is now available for download on D-Link(R) VoiceCenter(R) phone systems.

VoiceCenter with Response Point is a feature-rich, cost-effective Voice over IP (VoIP) phone system that is easy to use and manage, and is ideally suited for small businesses requiring up to 50 phones and phone lines.

Among the essential features of the Response Point software are voice-activated dialing and voicemail access, automated receptionist, built-in auto-provisioning configuration, call-forwarding, call hold, find me-follow me, 3-way call conferencing, voicemail-to-email forwarding, voicemail retrieval over the phone and MS Outlook(R) contact integration.

VoiceCenter, which is fully-compliant with Microsoft's new Response Point SP2 and available as a free download at http://www.microsoft.com/responsepoint/sp2, offers users additional features that they requested. They include: Intercom and Paging Among the features most requested are one-way paging and two-way intercom. One-way paging is possible with the press of a button and the user saying "page (recipient's name)." Paging can be done to an extension that exists on multiple phones. Similarly, the press of a button and the user saying "intercom (recipient's name)" will start a two-way conversation between user and recipient.

After Hours Receptionist Settings VoiceCenter with SP2 users also can specify times when incoming calls should be routed to the human receptionist. Outside of these times, calls will be routed to the Automated Receptionist.

Remote Office Support SP2 removes the single subnet network restriction for phones and the assistant. Remote offices can be secured through a virtual private network (VPN), making it possible for small businesses to deploy VoiceCenter to multiple office locations.

Parked Call Return In SP2, any call that has been parked for three minutes will be automatically returned to the extension that parked it. If there is no answer, the call is directed to the auto-attendant or receptionist.

Personal Contacts Can be Called With Specific Services With VoiceCenter and SP2, users can specify the type of call -- analog or VoIP -- to be used for a particular person. For instance, a company might prefer that all international calls are made using the VoIP lines.

Call Forwarding Prompt Now Optional In some cases, users do not want call forwarding to be announced. With SP2, each user can specify whether or not the caller hears an announcement when forwarding calls.

Improved Audio SP2 now incorporates general audio improvements, resulting in better performance and accuracy.

Escape from Voicemail Greeting Before Recording Starts Before SP2, a caller would have to hang up in order to attempt to talk with someone else instead of leaving a message. SP2 allows the external caller to press "O" while listening to a voicemail greeting and be routed back into the system or operator (if enabled).

"The addition of the SP2 upgrade further enables small businesses to easily supplement their existing phone service with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services," said Nick Tidd, vice president, NA Channel Development, and General Manager, Business Solutions & Broadband Sales Canada. "Since we introduced VoiceCenter, our customers are more comfortable with the reliability and quality of service offered by VoIP." With IP service in place, and using a simple VoIP account setup wizard in the Response Point Administrator software, a small business can connect with Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) to obtain new VoIP phone numbers in a matter of minutes. Installing traditional analog lines can take hours, days or weeks.

The latest edition of Response Point addresses small businesses' need to maintain a local presence through the use of a local VoIP phone number. VoIP providers allow businesses to select a local phone number for use in remote locations, alleviating costs to the business and customers for long-distance and toll-free numbers.

A small business can configure Response Point to route known inbound callers directly to a particular extension or pool of extensions. It can furnish a main number or individual employee extensions to ensure that someone is available -- virtually anytime or anywhere -- for important customers.

D-Link VoiceCenter 5-phone kits include IP-PBX (DVX-2000MS), IP phone (DPH-125MS) and PSTN gateway (DVG-3104MS). The D-Link VoiceCenter phone handsets feature capabilities including auto discovery, and one-touch access to parking, retrieving, transferring, voice dialing other employees and voice dialing personal contacts.

Other features of the D-Link VoiceCenter with Microsoft Response Point SP2 include SIP or PSTN trunking, DID-based inbound call routing to extensions, click-to-dial, presence status, a dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) and speech-based auto attendant, user directory, nicknames, simple live operator access, customizable prompts, and call forwarding through internal lines. It offers personal computer (PC) contact integration with Microsoft Outlook, Windows Contact/Address Book.
