Credit unions will merge

(The Brunswick News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nov. 8--Members of the Southeast Georgia Health System Federal Credit Union have voted to merge with Marshland Credit Union. The transition will be completed in January 2009.

Jeff Holcombe, president and CEO of Marshland Credit Union, says he's excited about the future.

"The credit union was chartered in 1961 to serve employees of the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital," Holcombe said.

"As the mission of the hospital transformed into Southeast Georgia Health System, the credit union changed its name also."

He said that the credit union currently serves over 800 health care professionals at its location inside Southeast Georgia Health System.

Once the merger is completed, members of the credit union will have access to their accounts at any of the Marshland Credit Union branches.

"Southeast Georgia Health System Federal Credit Union selected Marshland Credit Union as its merger partner in order to provide additional services to its members," Holcombe said.



"Immediately upon the merger, which is planned for January 1, 2009, members can have 24 hour access to their accounts via telephone, Internet, and ATM's."

Other benefits include five additional branches, certificates of deposits, individual retirement accounts, expanded loan services and Saturday hours.
