Credence Shows Off ATE Solutions for Consumer Semiconductor

(Wireless News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
Credence Systems, a provider of test solutions for the worldwide
consumer semiconductor industry, presented its Diamond 10, ASL 1000 and
ASL 3000RF solutions at the Credence-Spirox Booth during Semicon China
2008.

Credence presents the MultiWave instrument on the ultra-compact Diamond
10 platform to demonstrate advanced mixed-signal loopback and multisite
baseband tests. The MultiWave, which integrates the functionality of
multiple instruments in one multi-channel arbitrary waveform generator
and digitizer unit, offers the industry's most cost-effective
mixed-signal solution for multisite testing of highly integrated
system-in-package (SiP) and system-on-chip (SoC) devices used in
mainstream consumer applications.

Customers today use the MultiWave to solve a full range of highly
integrated SoC/SiP testing challenges (for example, fully parallel and
concurrent testing of audio and video devices), thus effectively
reducing cost of ownership in very competitive markets, the company
noted.

The Diamond 10 is specifically designed for the test challenges of
low-cost consumer IC devices. The ten-slot Diamond architecture can be
configured with a complete range of test instruments. Typical
configurations support up to 768 200Mbps digital channels, or up to 384
digital channels when equipped with mixed-signal instruments. The
Diamond 10, which is about the size of a large desktop computer, offers
this cost-performance capability within a floor space requirement of
less than 1m2. By contrast, traditional ATE systems require at least
four times this area to deliver similar capability.

Credence also presented solutions for two automated test equipment
(ATE) platforms in the ASL Series, a widely deployed commercial
production systems in the industry. The ASL Series platforms -- ASL
1000, ASL 3000, and ASL 3000RF -- are proven to consistently deliver
highly accurate results at significantly lower cost of test for highly
competitive market environments, including analog, discrete, power
management, and wireless applications, the company noted in a release.
