Cox Media Group Ohio launches Skydeck Studio [Dayton Daily News, Ohio :: ]

(Dayton Daily News (OH) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 20--Cox Media Group Ohio has launched a multi-media creative services studio to provide advertising, marketing and branding solutions to clients beyond the company's traditional advertising base, officials said.

Skydeck Studio opened in March at CMGO's Media Center at 1611 S. Main St. in Dayton.

The full-service production studio takes its name from its location adjacent to News Center 7's SkyDeck. However, the name also refers to the studio's approach to clients' needs, officials said.

"We take a 360-degree perspective toward a person's business or goal or objective," said Cathy Wiley, Skydeck Studio's creative director. "Whether it is that tri-fold brochure or a full marketing campaign, we have to get to know their business." Wiley, who also serves as CMGO's manager of creative client solutions, said the studio can help clients from their strategic approach to the creative execution -- "from concept to completion." Skydeck Studio has an award-winning staff of 14 creative professionals who include copywriters, graphic and digital designers, videographers, producers and editors. The staff also serves in similar roles for CMGO.

The studio offers a broad range of services that include producing television and radio commercials; internal campaigns; long-form company and educational videos; web videos; business logos; radio jingles; and print products such as ad slicks and brochures.

"Skydeck Studio gives CMGO an avenue to offer our extensive creative talent and production services to clients beyond traditional media advertising needs," said Lori Houseman, director of Client ROI (Return On Investment) for both CMGO and Skydeck Studio.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to continue to help local businesses grow by expanding our work with clients in the business-to-business space," Houseman said.

CMGO owns and operates WHIO-TV Channel 7, Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, Journal-News, News Talk Radio WHIO, K99.1 FM, WZLR-FM The Eagle, and a number of news and information websites.

Wiley said existing CMGO advertisers can turn to Skydeck Studio for services that they might be buying elsewhere, such as graphic design or video production.

"We are always going to partner with them and we are always going to be their resource for creative execution," she said. "That does not change at all." Wiley said clients receive the same 360 perspective, whether it is a Cox or Skydeck account.

In addition, Skydeck Studio can partner with area advertising agencies as a resource for outsourced "overflow" work, Wiley said.

Cox Media Group has launched similar studios in Pittsburgh and San Francisco, but both are entirely focused on television. Dayton is the only market to offer client services in television, radio, print and digital.

"We are a consolidated group here. We have the best of all four of the media platforms right here, with the creative personnel and talent to execute it," Wiley said.
