VANCOUVER, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
CounterPath's Softphone Technology Enables Single-Number Reachability,
Video Calling and Fixed-Mobile Convergence Across Computers and Mobile
Devices
Whether by VoIP on their computers,
text messaging, email or wireless voice, most Canadian consumers have
multiple ways to stay in touch. Today, CounterPath Corporation (TSX-V: CCV) (OTCBB: CPAH) announces that it has entered into a
commercial agreement with Rogers Communications (TSX: RCI-B) to let
Canadians use their wireless numbers to enable single-number
reachability by talk and text whether they are using their mobile
devices or computers. This innovative service offering from Rogers is
unprecedented and the first of its kind in Canada, enabling Rogers to
further stand out in the competitive Canadian telecom landscape.
With Rogers One Numberâ„¢, eligible Rogers wireless customers now have the following features:
One inbox and contact list: You can create and manage contact lists that are automatically synched
between your computer and mobile phone. With Rogers One Number, you now have email1 and text messages in one unified inbox on your computer.
Talk and send texts to Canadian numbers from your computer, without
deducting from your wireless plan: Seamlessly switch calls between your computer and wireless device. For
example, customers can begin their conversation on their mobile phones
and then easily transfer the call to their computer when they arrive
home.
Use your computer to call any Canadian number, from anywhere for free2 with your existing Rogers wireless plan: You can call any Canadian number and send outgoing text messages to
Canadian wireless numbers from your computer, at no additional charge.
You can also video chat with other Rogers One Number users.
CounterPath enables this flexibility and ease of use by using industry
standards to ensure interoperability, reliability, security and quality
across a variety of wired and wireless networks and operating systems.
CounterPath's portfolio of carrier- and enterprise-grade solutions
