Continuent Strengthens Executive Management Team: Appoints Ari Valtanen as Vice President of Products

Continuent, Inc., a leading provider of open source database clustering and replication solutions, today announced that Big Data, in-memory and high availability database expert Ari Valtanen has joined Continuent as Vice President of Products and a member of its Board of Directors. A recognized business leader with an extensive portfolio of global start-up activities and executive responsibilities, Mr. Valtanen will help drive business growth by overseeing Continuent's product management and engineering functions.

Prior to joining Continuent, Mr. Valtanen held numerous executive positions and launched several businesses, each aimed at bridging the gap between technology and people in order to attain business results. With expertise in software development, product management and technical sales across all platforms, his ccomplishments include:

• Co-founded Solid Information Technology (News - Alert) Ltd. in 1992 where he was responsible for achieving profitability and growth prior to acquisition by IBM^® in 2008.
• As an IBM (News - Alert) Software Group executive, led the integration of solidDB's business and technology into the broad IBM portfolio post-acquisition. Additionally, oversaw IBM's Big Data growth initiatives.
• Created numerous, successful start-ups that drove technology breakthroughs for more than two decades.
