Congressman Ruppersberger, Governor O'Malley to Address CyberMaryland Conference


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BALTIMORE, Oct. 24 -- The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development issued the following news release: DBED Secretary Dominick Murray today announced that U.S. Representative C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger and Governor Martin O'Malley will address educators, students and representatives of federal, state and local government and the cybersecurity industry during the two-day Cyber Maryland Conference. Both Congressman Ruppersberger and Governor O'Malley are scheduled to deliver opening remarks beginning at 8:30 a.m. on October 30 at the Baltimore Convention Center.



"Governor O'Malley launched the CyberMaryland initiative in January 2010 to position the state as the epicenter of cybersecurity," said Secretary Murray. "Since then, both Congressman Ruppersberger and Governor O'Malley have worked diligently to ensure that the United States addresses the challenges and embraces the opportunities presented by cybersecurity. We are very pleased that they are joining us at the fourth annual CyberMaryland Conference." Freeman Hrabowski, Ph.D., president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and selected as one of America's 10 Best College Presidents by Time Magazine in 2008, will moderate "Developing the Next Generation of Cyber Warriors" at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 29. Students at UMBC, named the nation's #1 up-and-coming university by U.S. News and World Report, will comprise the panel and share their insight into why they chose a career in cybersecurity, what they have experienced thus far, and what they are seeking in pursuing a career in the field.
