CompTIA Names Keynote Speaker for 2012 Annual Member Meeting

CompTIA announced that Steven M.R. Covey, co-founder and CEO of CoveyLink Worldwide, is the keynote speaker for the annual event April 10-12.
According to a release, Covey is scheduled to speak at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11.
"Stephen M. R. Covey is a highly sought after speaker and business advisor on trust, leadership, ethics and high performance," said Kelly Ricker, senior vice president, events and education, CompTIA. "He presents a compelling narrative of why trust is an essential ingredient not only in a well-functioning society, but in high-performing organizations."
In his book The Speed of Trust, Covey contends that there is an important economic case to be made for trust, because it can increase speed in business, lower costs, streamline transactions and decisions and help with innovation, engagement and the attraction and retention of talent. Attendees will receive a copy of Covey's latest book, Smart Trust, during a book signing immediately following the keynote.
The CompTIA Annual Member Meeting offers opportunities for IT channel business owners and executives to network with peers; discuss and strategize on issues affecting their business; and learn about the trends shaping the IT industry.
This year's gathering features two industry panel sessions on Wednesday, April 11.
"Mobility Trends in 2012 and Beyond: Will Mobility Kill the Desktop?" will examine the latest trends in enterprise mobility.
"Partner Business Model Transformation: Are You Ready?" will discuss how the business of being an IT solution provider has changed; and offer business model transformation strategies and tips to take advantage of opportunities created by these changes.
Another highlight of the CompTIA Annual Member Meeting is the induction of the newest members into the IT Industry Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors individuals and groups who have pioneered or helped the IT channel flourish; or who are responsible for major IT innovations.
Many of CompTIA's member communities are scheduled to meet in Chicago in April. These groups of industry leaders, with expertise in specific technologies, vertical markets and business segments, help shape future initiatives launched by CompTIA, including business tools, educational offerings, policy positions and research projects.
The 2012 CompTIA Annual Member Meeting will be held at the Westin Chicago River North.
