Cloudsoft and Virtustream Partner to Enhance Management of Mission-Critical Cloud Applications

Cloudsoft Corporation, the leading provider of open source application management, today announced a strategic partnership with Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud software and services provider. Virtustream has selected the Apache Brooklyn open source project as an integral part of its overall AppDirector technology stack and Cloudsoft will provide integration, services and support.

Apache Brooklyn is an open source application management solution that simplifies the modelling, deployment and autonomic in-life management of applications whether these are deployed on bare metal or using containers; and whether on premise or in a private, public or hybrid cloud environment. It enables application modernization, accelerates the development of cloud first applications, and delivers policy-based application elasticity, scalability and portability.

"Our customers will directly benefit from this partnership," said Duncan Johnston-Watt, founder andchief executive officer at Cloudsoft Corporation. "With Apache Brooklyn embedded in the Virtustream xStream platform, this now becomes a natural destination for their mission-critical applications - especially in a hybrid cloud. As the original proponent of Brooklyn, we are delighted to see the community grow with the addition of a company of Virtustream's caliber."

The AppDirector framework, part of the Virtustream xStream Cloud Management Platform, gives enterprise business users and system administrators unprecedented control and management at the application level for mission critical production applications including SAP or Oracle (News - Alert). Virtustream xStream leverages its micro-VMTM (µVM) technology to provide application performance SLAs, multi-tenant efficiency, and a consumption-based pricing model for both legacy and modern web-scale applications.

"We see tremendous benefits in adopting open source technologies," said Van Williams, chief of product engineering and CIO for Virtustream. "By embracing Brooklyn, Virtustream will be able to provide deployment and management for the application blueprints being created by the growing Brooklyn community, as well as custom enterprise blueprints offered as part of our xStream platform."
