Citel Technologies' 48vDC Power Supply Version of Its Portico(TM) TVA(TM) Receives Regulatory Approval

Amherst, NY, Apr 05, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Citel Technologies, Inc., is pleased to announce that the hardware upgrade to its award winning Portico TVA enabling that device to be powered by 48vDC when installed in a central office environment has received regulatory approval. As previously announced, the development was undertaken to support all levels of carriers migrating customers to an IP Centrex solution from a DMS100 Centrex environment. With this development companies can now install the Portico TVA centrally utilizing a 48vDC power source, a source commonly used in Central Office environments.

The Portico TVA offers companies the ability to migrate their customers to VoIP without the unnecessary burden of ripping and replacing existing cabling infrastructure, purchasing new IP phones and installing Power over Ethernet switches. Customers can retain their existing digital, analog and Centrex phones without removing the existing switches by SIP enabling those phones through the use of the Portico TVA. This is a quick and cost effective means of VoIP migration.

The Portico TVA, originally developed as a premise based device, has been upgraded so that carriers who wanted to undertake all of their service at the Central Office location when migrate their Centrex customers to a cloud based IP telephony solution can now do so. Although the announcement of this development was made some months ago, the product was further refined to ensure a seamless regulatory process. This project, subject to updates of documentation, has now been completed. The Portico TVA can now be installed at a Central Office location SIP enabling Centrex handsets located more than 15,000 feet away. As a spokesman for Citel previously stated, "Companies have been looking at ways of moving their customers over to IP telephony with minimal disruption, and with this 48vDC powered, Central Office version of the Portico TVA, we can ensure the customer can obtain the benefits of VoIP without any of the disruptions that occur when new cabling, PoE switches and IP phones have to be installed."
