Cisco Solutions to Support Magistrates in Russia's Oil Boom Region; Cisco Technologies Help Optimize Legislative Process in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District Yugra map

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MOSCOW -- Cisco today announced that a network interaction system has been set up for the magistrates in the local judicial system of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, also known as Yugra. Fifty-one percent of the oil produced in Russia comes from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, giving the region great economic importance. The district is located in a remote area of Russia in a territory larger than that of any European country except for France and Ukraine.

As a result of the project, 74 judicial districts in 26 municipalities have a unified network, a joint videoconferencing system, and IP telephony with abbreviated dialing. Modernization of the telecommunications infrastructure improved technical and organizational support for the region's magistrates and helped to quickly inform the public about their activities. In addition, the new solutions have improved interaction between employees and cut the cost of network maintenance, long-haul communications and official travel.

Local area networks of the judicial districts have been merged into a unified infrastructure with consolidated information resources. The newly built system is based on Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches , Cisco Catalyst 3750-X Series Switches and Cisco 1801 , 2911 , and 2921 Integrated Services Routers . They provide flexible and resilient data sharing, improved fault tolerance and accelerated data rates. Network perimeter protection in compliance with applicable Russian legislation is provided by Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances and encryption gateways certified by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB). Mobility is supported by the Cisco Aironet 1240 AG Series Access Points.

Uneven distribution of judicial districts across the territory of the district made it necessary to create central and peripheral network nodes. The central nodes are located in the cities of Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut, and Khanty-Mansiysk. They include high-end hardware systems with redundant critical elements.

The unified telephone network is based on Cisco Unified Communications . It efficiently integrates voice and video, wireless and other communications features on one platform. Calls are made by the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911G , Cisco Unified IP Phone 7962G , and Cisco Unified IP Phone 9971 . Videoconferencing is supported by the Cisco TelePresence MCU MSE 8510 bridge.

The solution was chosen by the administration of the governor, which is responsible for the regional magistrates as well as for complete and independent justice. The network collaboration platform in the Autonomous Region fully meets the requirements of the government program "Information Society in Yugra - 2011-2013." Key Facts / Highlights: Cisco took part in dozens of large-scale projects in the territory of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District. Cisco solutions support successful operations of Khanty-Mansiysk municipality, Khanty-Mansiysk bank, local internal affairs department, regional clinical hospital of Khanty-Mansiysk, Shpilman Center for rational usage of natural resources, Khanty-Mansiysk healthcare department, Yugra parliament, regional road police, regional cardiology hospital in Surgut, techno park in Khanty-Mansiysk, biathlon center in Khanty-Mansiysk, Sports Ice Palace in Surgut and many others. A year later a MoU was signed by Cisco and the Yugra State University to launch a Cisco innovation technology center in the campus.
