China Unicom Ltd closes purchase of 100 pct shares in parent's subsidiary

BEIJING, Dec 28, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China United Network Communications (China Unicom) Limited (600050.SH; CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK) announced late Thursday that the company has closed the purchase of a 100 percent stake in Unicom New Horizon Telecommunications Co. Ltd from China Unicom Group Co. Ltd.

China Unicom Group is the parent company of China Unicom Ltd, China's second-largest telecommunications operator.

The mobile provider said earlier that the acquisition may exert positive influence on its company's profits. (Edited by Ding Lei, dinglei@xinhua.org)
