China to Outpace US in Smartphone Sales Next Year
BEIJING, Dec 14, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
China is predicted to become the largest country by smartphone sales in the world next year, outpacing the United States, according to a latest data report released by Pyramid Research, an American telecoms research firm.
The smartphone sale will keep growing in the future, and it is estimated to capture a 37% share of the total cellphone sales by 2014, in comparison with 16% now. Hence, cellphone vendors and related-service providers will see a huge opportunity.
In the future five years, Brazil, India, Turkey, and Nigeria will become the fastest-growing smartphone markets globally, with annual compound growth ratios (ACGR) of 43%, 39%, 37%, and 34%, separately, said Salvador, a Pyramid Research analyst. Latin America will become the fastest-growing territory by smartphone sales in the world, with an ACGR of 48%. And the followers will be Africa and Middle East, with an ACGR of 39%.
He suggested that telecoms operators should join hands with mobile phone makers to take full advantage of the smartphone sales peak.
