Chang'an Automobile, China Mobile to Develop 3G Cars
CHONGQING, Nov 19, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Chinese automaker Chongqing Chang'an Automobile Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 000625) lately entered into a strategic cooperation agreement upon development of the 3G auto with China Mobile (SEHK: 0941; NYSE: CHL), the nation's leading mobile carrier.
In the near future, both sides will be jointly engaged in the R&D, front assembly, long-distance diagnosis, orientation, and navigation of intelligent vehicles. Some insiders even estimate that the 3G network technology will be introduced into Chang'an Automobile's salable car models, the Alsvin and Benni, within the coming two years.
Meanwhile, they are set to adopt the M2M (machine to machine) telecommunications technology for auto production, creating more self-developed innovative intelligent cars. Such a win-win cooperation is expected to introduce a new-type life style to Chinese consumers, according to the Chang'an Automobile General Manger Zhang Baolin.
This move can also be recognized as a great breakthrough in the tie-up between China's automotive and telecommunications industries, and then a new round of the domestic auto information revolution will emerge.
