Centrify's Onsite RSA Survey Reveals Concern About the Security of Private Data Held by Election Boards in 2018 Midterms

Centrify, a leading provider of Zero Trust Security through the power of Next-Gen Access, today announced the results from an onsite survey of IT professionals attending the RSA (News - Alert) Conference, being held this week at Moscone Center, San Francisco. The survey of over 100 IT professionals revealed that 67 percent are concerned about the security of their private data held by Election Boards in the 2018 elections. Twenty-one percent consider the integrity of voting locations and machines to be the biggest threat to our democracy during the 2018 elections.

"This survey reinforces that the security of sensitive data and credentials is top of mind not just for enterprises and government officials, but for the electorate at large regarding voter information, who has access to it, and how is it used and secured," said Tom Kemp, CEO of Centrify. "Election Boards and officials oversee voter registration and administrate elections, both of which carry highly sensitive information susceptible to breaches. That's why it's critical that they implement a Zero Trust Security approach to secure endpoints, networks, servers and applications, thereby protecting sensitive voter information and ultimately securing the 2018 midterms and safeguarding our democracy."

Earlier this week, Centrify announced it is extending its Identity-as-a-Service and Privileged Access Management leadership to state, county, and city Election Boards and Officials for the 2018 U.S. midterm elections. Centrify's Secure the Vote campaign offers its Next-Gen Access solutions to eligible Election Boards at no cost for the first eight months of a 12-month (or more) SaaS (News - Alert) subscription, representing a 66 percent discount on MSRP. Centrify is lso offering a 10 percent discount to new Election Board customers to take advantage of its Jump Start professional services program to ensure a smooth and successful deployment of Centrify Zero Trust Security. Centrify's onsite RSA poll also reinforced that data breaches can have very real business and bottom line impact, with 32 percent of respondents stating that they stopped using Uber, Yahoo! or Equifax after high-profile breaches involving identity were revealed. Twenty-six percent of respondents also stated that they have deleted or plan to delete their Facebook (News - Alert) accounts after recent headlines about Cambridge Analytica misusing Facebook user data.

While 69 percent of respondents stated that their organizations have implemented multi-factor authentication to attain Zero Trust Security, only 37 percent stated that they have implemented Privileged Access Management and only 24 percent stated that they have implemented machine learning and automation capabilities. Thirty-two percent of respondents perceived Identity and Access Management to be the greatest security weakness in their organization. Eighty-four percent of respondents stated that they believe that the time has come to no longer trust the password.
