CenterVue Launches COMPASS Fundus Automated Perimeter

CenterVue Inc. (CenterVue), an innovative leader in the eye care diagnostics field, announces the US market release of its COMPASS Fundus Automated Perimetry (FAP) system at the Vision Expo West Symposium being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 17 to 19, 2015.

The COMPASS FAP will also be exhibited at the XXXIII Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Barcelona, Spain, September 5 to 9, 2015.

Fundus Automated Perimetry (FAP) is a technique that images the retina during visual field testing, enabling a true structure and function analysis. COMPASS is the first FAP system capable of providing both standard 24-2 visual field results and true color confocal images of the retina. COMPASS' Real Time retinal tracking, acquired at the rate of 25 images per second, enables precise monitoring of eye movements during visua field testing with corresponding compensation prior to stimulus projection. Additionally, Automatic Refraction Compensation in COMPASS conveniently eliminates the need for a trial lens correction during testing. The platform recently gained 510(k) premarket approval for marketing from the US Food and Drug Administration.

"Real Time retinal tracking with the COMPASS is a potential game changer in visual field testing, reducing uncertainty and increasing confidence in the management of our glaucoma patients, " said Ike K. Ahmed, MD, FRCSC, Assistant Professor, University of Toronto.

"For Glaucoma management, COMPASS Fundus Automated Perimetry represents the first significant advancement in Visual Field Testing in decades," said William Burnham, OD, CEO of CenterVue, Inc. "Integration of Real Time retinal tracking and 'Correction-Free' testing elevates COMPASS beyond Standard Automated Perimetry (SAP (News - Alert))."

CenterVue will display the new COMPASS platform during the ESCRS Congress at Booth G08 and during the Vision Expo West Symposium at Booth MS504.
