Cayman garners seven medals at games

Cayman Islands had a total of 7 medals in the ongoing Island games when we went to press.
Robert Ibeh got a Gold Medal in the 200 m men's dash, Junior Hines got gold in the 400 m hurdles for men. Perry Anglin got gold for Cayman in the High Jump.
Michael Letterlough took Silver in the Men's Hammer throw. Omar Wright took Silver in the Men's High Jump.
The men's Shooting Team received a Silver medal.
In the Men's Tennis Event Cayman's Edoardo Torres got a Silver medal. Dominic McLuskey of Guernsey beat Torres 2-1 to win the medal. McLuskey took the first and third sets (6:3) and (10:3) respectively to take the game.
Speaking to Cayman Net News Robert Ibeh's mother and also an official with the Cayman Islands Athletic Association, Elizabeth Ibeh said that she was happy with the achievements of her son.
Ms Ibeh said that her wish was for her son to have a repeat performance over what he was able to do in Rhodes of coming back home with two medals.
"I knew he was capable although I could not tell whether the conditions of the track and those other athletes would work in his favour," she said.
"Aland athletes have faster times and I was concerned," she noted.
Ms Ibeh noted that Cayman Athletes were getting injuries owing to the unusual terrain they were met with in the games.
Moreover with longer hours of light during the day exhaustion has been working against our athletes said reports from Aland.
In basketball Cayman Islands in a show of might thrashed Jersey 110-29. The Cayman team playing in an indoor court played their hearts out since they were not fearing injuries and neither did they have the drift of wind working against their shots. This sealed a sweet victory for Cayman following defeat in their first game. Cayman lost to Bermuda 71-82.
In the standings Cayman had 3 points after having scored 181 against 111. The difference was 70 by the time we went to press.
The Captain Collin Anglin, Dwight O'Garro, Lloyd Samuels, Philip Barnes, Adam Milburn, Samuel O'Garro, Omari Corbin, Jerome Narcisse, Shaad O'Garro and Rotando Thompson represent the team.
