CareCredit Awards $15,000 Grant to the Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Fund

COSTA MESA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

CareCredit, a leading provider of health, wellness and beauty financing for consumers, today recommitted its support for the Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Fund of The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF) by awarding a $15,000 grant to the organization. This is the second year CareCredit has awarded a grant to the BRA Fund, which supports surgical care expenses of uninsured and underinsured women, seeking reconstructive surgery following treatment for breast cancer.

The grant to the BRA Fund will assist one or more patients in a low-to-moderate income household in Salt Lake City, Utah, or Newark, New Jersey. Any patient who meets requirements may qualify for assistance, which is provided by the BRA Fund through a community-based organization.

Breast reconstruction can often accelerate the physical and emotional recovery from breast cancer. However, women with a financial need may not be aware of the full spectrum of possible treatment once they are diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Many uninsured and underinsured women diagnosed with breast cancer may not be informed of their reconstructive options," said Nicholas B. Vedder M.D., F.A.C.S., president of The Plastic Surgery Foundation. "We thank CareCredit for their generous support to help women with breast cancer, who are in need of financial assistance, gain access to necessary, quality of life enhancing healthcare services that they otherwise could not afford."

"Breast cancer touches so many lives, and the BRA Fund is an invaluable resource for breast cancer patients with financial limitations," said Greg Pierce, senior vice president, CareCredit. "CareCredit is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of women, and is proud to support the BRA Fund and their mission."
