Canadian Celestica to acquire Austrian Allied Panels


(M&A Navigator Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Canadian electronics manufacturing services provider Celestica Inc (TSX:CLS) said Friday it had agreed to take over Austrian medical engineering firm Allied Panels Entwicklungs-und Produktions GmbH for an undisclosed sum.



The transaction is expected to broaden Celestica's business for the healthcare diagnostics and imaging market, the company said in a statement.

The acquisition is seen closing in the third quarter of 2010.


Allied Panels specialises in lectro-mechanical design, firmware and software, and high-level assembly for subsystems and complex medical devices. It will also bring its capabilities in the field of device product lifecycle management and 3D ultrasound technology, Celestica added.

Allied Panels, with some 130 employees, has revenues of EUR40m (USD51.7m) per year.
