California Physician Groups Support Confirmation of Marilyn Tavenner

"The California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) encourages the Senate to confirm Marilyn Tavenner, the President's nominee for Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In her role as Acting Administrator she has worked skillfully to navigate the challenges facing Medicare and Medicaid and she is the right person to oversee Medicare and Medicaid in the coming years.

"A number of critical issues face the healthcare system in the years ahead, including the ongoing implementation of deliery system reforms such as accountable care organizations, state Medicaid expansions, and health exchanges. Ms. Tavenner has demonstrated a keen ability to work effectively with stakeholders during this critical phase of systemic change. Having a permanent Administrator in this position will provide valuable stability as the industry undergoes significant transformation to ensure access to high quality care for expanding Medicare and Medicaid populations.
