ESKADENIA Software participates in INJAZ Job Shadowing Programme me
ESKADENIA Software participated in the Job Shadowing Programme me (JSP) organised by the Jordanian nonprofit organisation INJAZ on 23 February 2010. The programme aims at providing school students with a closer look at what a real job is like and a sample experience of a working day in a professional's life. ESKADENIA Software received two students from the 9th and 10th grades from Jordanian public schools to "shadow" three business professionals at the company's premises including a senior technical writer, a technical team leader, and a software developer. The goal of the programme me is to allow students to experience a real-career day and to help them decide on their future career preferences. Through their visit to ESKADENIA, students learned about relevance of schoolwork to their future career life, necessary workplace skills, teamwork, connection between learning and earning, and a general overview about their hosts of IT professionals. Each student was able to interview his ESKADENIA host, and from the day's observations prepare a report on the staff, facilities, technologies and benefits within ESKADENIA. "ESKADENIA Software has been participating in the INJAZ Job Shadowing Programme me for three years. It has been a pleasure to receive such special students in our offices and to have members of our staff provide them with a closer look at what real job and work environment are like in the ICT sector," said Salam Fakhoury, human resources manager at ESKADENIA Software.
International Academy staff participate in the Dead2RED Relay Marathon
Twelve teachers from the International Academy-Amman (IAA) participated in the Dead2Red Relay Run on March 4-5 to raise money for UNICEF's work with children, healthcare and education both locally and internationally. To raise money for UNICEF, Nathaniel Mulford (team organiser) has organised a team under the name of "Twelve Terrific Teachers" who trained hard for the event. Mulford said of the challenge: "I have chosen to support UNICEF by running in the 13th Dead2Red Relay because I believe that UNICEF carries out fantastic work for children. As a teacher I wanted to raise funds to support its work in schools, but since the earthquake in Haiti the team's focus has changed to support that. A school-in-a-box provides supplies and materials for a teacher and 40 students in exactly these types of emergencies. I'm hoping that we can raise funds to provide several of these as well as other essential supplies." IAA has a history of throwing its support behind many other worthwhile causes. Recently, they have completed fundraising for the Haiti disaster and Doctors Without Borders.
