Business After Hours draws large crowd Thursday evening

Feb 12, 2012 (The Union Daily Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A large turnout that included both new and long-time members, their guests, and community leaders and a $500 donation from one of the sponsors were among the highlights of the Union County Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours Thursday evening.

Business After Hours is held on a quarterly basis by the chamber to give members, potential members, the business community, local leaders and other interested parties the opportunity to meet and interact with one another in a social setting. Thursday's Business After Hours was held at the Union County Museum and was well-attended by chamber members, their guests, and community leaders from both within and without Union County according to Chamber Director Torance Inman.

"We had a very nice turnout, we had our faithful ones who come to almost every Business After Hours and we appreciate them," Inman said Friday morning. We had new chamber members, other business partners, and community leaders, not only from Union but also Chester and Spartanburg." Thursday's Business After Hours was sponsored by Liberty Tax Service, Santuc Precision, the Union Rotary Club, and Union County Crimestoppers. Inman said the sponsors appreciated the turnout for the event which gave them a large audience to address about their businesses and organizations and the products and services they provide the community.

"It was a large crowd and the sponsors were very appreciative of the attendance," Inman said. "They were very appreciative of the opportunity to share their particular business such as Liberty Tax Service and Santuc Precision and special community involvement such as the Rotary Club and Crimestoppers." Liberty Tax Service Liberty Tax Service was represented Thursday by its owner, Katherine Pendergrass, and tax preparer Jessica Kirby. Pendergrass said she decided to help sponsor the event because of her belief in the chamber and the opportunty Business After Hours provides businessmen and women to get to know each other, exchange ideas and, for those who are not already members, be inspired to join the chamber.

"Number one, we believe in what the chamber is doing," Pendergrass said Thursday evening. "We believe in getting together with other business people in order to network and share information.
