BrT implements solution to collect unclaimed revs

(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Brazilian fixed line operator Brasil Telecom (NYSE: BTM) (BrT) has implemented the industry's first solution to help identify and collect unclaimed revenues generated across networks, US IT giant IBM (NYSE: IBM) and US IP management and security company Narus said in a joint statement.

Based on IBM BladeCenter and NarusAnalyze software, BrT can now manage revenue streams across services running on their IP networks such VoIP, IPTV and other new IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) architectures, the statement said.

"As telecommunications service providers move into the future, a greater percentage of our business models will rely on our ability to profitably deliver high-quality IP services such as VoIP and IPTV," said Ricardo Fernandez, director of business operations at BrT.

"This new revenue sharing reference platform will allow BrT and the rest of the industry to address the issue of the hundreds of millions of dollars lost due to revenue leakage," Fernandez said.
