Broadcom acquires BroadLight
Apr 06, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
Semiconductor solutions supplier Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq:BRCM) announced on Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of BroadLight Inc, a provider of integrated networking and fibre access PON (Passive Optical Network) processors.
In connection with the acquisition Broadcom paid approximately USD195m subject to certain adjustments, net of cash assumed, to acquire all of the outstanding shares of capital stock and other equity rights of BroadLight. The purchase price was paid in cash, except that a portion of the purchase price attributable to unvested employee stock options will be paid in Broadcom restricted stock units.
Broadcom said that the addition of BroadLight extends its broadband access product line, enabling the company to offer a complete, end-to-end GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) solution for customers, from the optical line terminal (OLT) at the central office to the optical network unit (ONU) at the home.
Combined with Broadcom networking and management software, home networking portfolio and VoIP expertise, the acquisition provides customers with a product offering spanning a complete portfolio of wireline access products.
