BRIEF: Yelm police arrest man for allegedly stealing more than $15K in Walmart items
Apr 18, 2012 (The Olympian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Yelm police arrested a 20-year-old man Tuesday on suspicion of stealing more than $15,000 of merchandise, including six laptop computers, from Walmart on state Route 507.
The man was booked into the Thurston County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree organized retail theft.
According to court papers:
About 5 p.m., a Yelm police officer on routine patrol in the Walmart parking lot was flagged down by employees who said two men had just left the store with stolen merchandise. The employees gave the officer a description and license plate number of the suspects' vehicle.
The officer pulled over a vehicle that fit the employees' description. The officer saw a tote in the back of the vehicle that matched the description of an item reported stolen. The officer got permission to look inside the tote and found two laptops and two pairs of headphones. All of the merchandise was in its original packaging and had security devices still attached.
A suspect was arrested.
