BRIEF: Wendell man charged in string of car, truck break-ins

Feb 12, 2012 (The News & Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Wake County sheriff's deputies arrested a 19-year-old man wanted in Franklin County on charges that he broke into a dozen vehicles last November and stole guns, computers, cameras and a flat-screen TV.

Dylan Tyler Brown, whose address was given on warrants as 6400 Robertson Pond Road in Wendell, was turned over to Franklin County deputies after his arrest Friday and was ordered held on $140,000 bond pending a court appearance Tuesday.

Franklin officials would not say where the break-ins, all on Nov. 9, happened, but the warrants allege that Brown broke into five cars, six pickup trucks or SUVs and a Winnebago camper. They charge that he stole, among other items, a Savage .270 rifle and scope, a Ruger .44 Magnum handgun and a Kahr 9mm handgun; laptop computers; cameras, and a flat-screen TV.

Breaking into a car to try to steal something is a felony under North Carolina law.
