BRIEF: Tri-State Rodeo to throw party to announce entertainment

Mar 19, 2011 (The Hawk Eye - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- FORT MADISON -- Entertainment acts for the 2011 Tri-State Rodeo will be revealed Thursday night at an official kickoff celebration.

Steve Link, the rodeo's general chairman, will announce both the musical acts and speciality acts at 6:45 p.m. at Captain Kirk's Marina. The party, which will include hors d'oeuvres and drinks, begins at 5 p.m.

Though he couldn't reveal who will be playing at rodeo, Link promises it will be a big announcement. He said the musical acts for Friday and Saturday fall into the country music genre.

"Our Friday night act is a very big country music name," he said. "I think it will be well received." Link also will reveal the local acts set to play at the Coors Party Pavilion.

"We're also going to modify the pre-rodeo week events, and I'll talk a little about that," he said.

The 64th rodeo will take place Sept. 7 to 11 at C.E. Richards Rodeo Arena and will feature rodeo action, speciality acts and professional musical entertainment. The Tri-State Rodeo is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys' Association, which features the nation's best cowboys and cowgirls.
