BRIEF: Teen Burglars 'Wet The Bed'; Steal Thousands

BRISTOL, Ct, Feb 14, 2012 (WPIX-TV - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police have arrested two Bristol, CT, teenagers in a string of home burglaries that netted thousands and left a foul smell in at least five houses.

The two teenage boys made off with nearly $30,000 in video games, jewelry, guns and knives, and in each case they urinated on the beds and appliances in the houses, News 8 WTNH reported.

"They were going in and besides what they were taking they were destroying things," said Lt. Kevin Morrell, "smashing tv's, computers, breaking furniture, all that kind of stuff." Perhaps because of the infantile calling card, police decided to cross-reference the dates of the break-ins with any pattern of school absences, leading them straight to the two suspects.


The boys have reportedly admitted to the string of burglaries, as well as the urination.

"Nobody thinks to check their stove or oven," Lt. Morrell told WTNH, "so by the time they get around to it, it's dried up and evaporated, so when they fire up the stove to cook dinner the odor just goes through the whole house." The boys have are believed to have broken into five houses, and police are now working to see if they can link them to more.
