BRIEF: SMUD ties as No. 1 midsize utility in customer satisfaction
Feb 15, 2012 (The Sacramento Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District tied for first among midsize utilities in the West in J.D. Power and Associates' 2012 Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study.
Westlake Village-based Power said SMUD tied for the top spot with Idaho Power.
For a third consecutive year, the Tempe, Ariz.-based Salt River Project ranked highest among large utilities in the West.
The study is based on interviews with representatives of more than 24,300 U.S. businesses that spend more than $250 monthly on electricity. More than 90 utility brands serving a total of more than 11.7 million business customers were included in the study.
Overall customer satisfaction is measured by six factors: power quality and reliability, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, price, communications, and customer service.
Power noted that overall nationwide satisfaction improved across the board compared with 2010, with particularly strong scores in customer service.
