BRIEF: Shooting in central Tucson leaves one man dead

Nov 03, 2009 (The Arizona Daily Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Tucson police are investigating an afternoon shooting that left one man dead in central Tucson today.

Police received a call shortly after 2 p.m. regarding shots fired and responded to a home in the 2500 block of North Fontana Avenue, near Grant Road and Sixth Avenue, said Sgt. Diana Lopez, a police spokeswoman.

She said officers found a 23-year-old man on the ground outside the home with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man is in police custody in connection with the shooting, Lopez said.

He and the gunshot victim had been in an argument before the shooting, she said.

The names of the two men have not been released.
