BRIEF: Roanoke man sentenced for having child pornographyDec 04, 2012 (The Roanoke Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Roanoke man whose home computer contained a large cache of child pornography was sentenced Monday to six years and five months in federal prison. Paul D. Aragon was also ordered to pay $1,000 each to three of the people who were identified as the subjects of his pornography. U.S. District Court Judge Samuel Wilson called the images "a degradation of a child that is one of the greatest insults that can be inflicted." When Aragon, 47, pleaded guilty in September, authorities said his computer contained more than 2,500 images of child pornography. Aragon, who admitted to purchasing a membership to a website that distributed the images, testified Monday that he was ashamed of his impulses. But, he said, he never acted on them by attempting to molest a child. "It would take an absolute act of cruelty on my part to do that," he said.
