BRIEF: Report: Lisa Garza's forthcoming restaurant screening servers based on photos
Feb 14, 2012 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Our pal Teresa Gubbins cracked this interesting story (and did a little undercover work to boot), about the soon-to-open restaurant from Dallas-based chef and Food Network Star season four contestant Lisa Garza. In the hiring process for the restaurant, Sissy's Southern Kitchen & Bar on Henderson Avenue in Dallas, Teresa says they're "requiring an unprecedented extra from applicants: their photo."
"Do you like pleasing people?" the job posting begins. "Do you LOVE hosting a rockin' dinner party? Do you have a serious passion for service, food, cocktails, and wine? We might be the right fit for you!"
The ad then describes Sissy's as an "exciting new casual-fine dining Southern style restaurant and bar opening in the heart of the Henderson dining area," then offers a list of positions, including the following:
"Servers (hip with a retro edge, attach a photo please)"
But that's not all. Teresa sent two fake resumes (with two different photos) to the restaurant; check out the results of the experiment here. It's a delicious read.
As we await the opening of Sissy's, we'll be curious to watch the whole hipster ethos balances out against the quality of the food.
