BRIEF: Police patrol, K-9 officers make pot bust
(Greenville Herald-Banner (Greenville, Texas) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 20--GREENVILLE -- A Wisconsin man couldn't find a way to avoid being arrested Monday night, even with a map and the Global Positioning System (GPS).
Martin Romero Dominguez, 20, of Kenosha, Wisc., was pulled over along Interstate 30 for a traffic stop at around 9:35 p.m. Monday. Officer Robert Pemberton has stopped Dominguez's 2000 Mitsubishi Gallant for speeding and for traveling in the left lane and not passing.
Upon making contact with Dominguez, Pemberton reportedly noticed a marijuana blunt in the vehicle's ashtray, along with a cellular telephone, a map of the United States and a GPS device on the front seat. Pemberton also detected the smell of marijuana emitting from the car.
Pemberton, along with K-9 Officer Cieko, performed a search of the vehicle and discovered almost 7 pounds of marijuana concealed in the trunk.
Dominguez was arrested and placed in custody at the Hunt County Jail, where he remained Friday in lieu of $50,000 bond on a charge of possession of between five and 50 pounds of marijuana. The vehicle and the rest of the property in Dominguez's possession were seized.
