BRIEF: Police: Hospice nurse steals man's $6,000 ring
Feb 14, 2012 (Houston Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A Killeen woman who was working as a hospice nurse in the home of a 72-year-old Seabrook man has been accused of stealing the man's gold ring valued at about $6,000 earlier this year.
Emima Ingrid Lawler, 31, is charged with theft, according to a complaint filed by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
The complaint states Lawler was working in the man's home in the 3400 block of Ocean Ridge Circle in July. At some point, the man, who is mostly confined to his bed, noticed his 14K gold ring was missing. The man's ring contained a gold stone and seven diamonds, according to court records.
The complaint states the man confronted Lawler about the missing ring and she e-mailed him, saying the ring had been pawned and telling him where the pawn shop was.
Investigators later found the ring. It had been pawned July 11 at EZ Pawn at 209 NASA Road 1 in Webster. Lawler, the compliant states, had pawned the ring, which is valued at about $6,000.
