BRIEF: New red-light camera on Far East Side
Dec 31, 2011 (The Columbus Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Columbus' newest red-light camera is watching motorists at Hamilton and Refugee roads on the Far East Side.
City safety officials said the camera was switched on just after midnight. Red-light runners caught on video will get warning letters for 30 days.
On Jan. 30, drivers will begin receiving $95 fines if police who review red-light video determine they broke the law.
Columbus will have red-light cameras at 38 intersections when officials complete an expansion approved by City Council members in 2010.
