BRIEF: Mexican army engages gunmen in Reynosa
REYNOSA, Oct 04, 2009 (The Monitor - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A clash took place here this afternoon between gunmen and elements of the Mexican Army, with unofficial reports of at least three people arrested and one soldier injured, according to the news Web site MetroNoticias.
The incident began about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Morelos and Praxedies Balboa boulevards with a pursuit of armed subjects traveling in a white van, the Web site reported. The shootout resulted in the halt of vehicle traffic on Boulevard Morelos and damage to the front of a Carl's Jr. restaurant, vehicles parked in the vicinity and a traffic light at that intersection.
Monitor attempts to contact authorities in Mexico were unsuccessful Saturday.
