Feb 12, 2009 (The Arizona Daily Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with an attempted home invasion last week on the Southwest Side, authorities said. The incident was captured on the home's security camera.
David Gutierrez was one of four armed men who tried to break into a house on Feb. 5 in the 3000 block of West Vande Loo Street, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
Sheriff's deputies arrested him while they were looking for Jesus Mendivil, another suspect in the home invasion, Barkman said.
Gutierrez is facing charges of attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
Meanwhile, the surveillance video showing the four gunmen rushing in to the Tucson home is getting national attention. The clip was featured prominently on CNN.The attackers carried handguns and an assault rifle, but the homeowner was able to keep them from coming in by firing at them with his own weapon, the Sheriff's Department said.
