BRIEF: Interactive Classrooms in Oman Schools Soon
MUSCAT, Nov 19, 2009 (Khaleej Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Several Omani schools will boast interactive classrooms and mobile science labs following two agreements signed here between the Ministry of Education and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The memoranda of understanding (MoU) were concluded as part of the company's Social Investment (SI) project and were inked by Managing Director John Malcolm and Mustafa bin Ali bin Abdul-Latif, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the ministry.
The first MoU will support the creation of Oman's first 'Interactive School'. Az-Zahyah school in Adam, which was recently built by PDO, will be provided with twelve 'interactive' classrooms equipped with the latest educational IT and multimedia technology. The second MoU provides for the provision of six mobile science laboratories and associated equipment for schools at a number of locations in PDO concession area that currently do not have any permanent labs. The new mobile labs will be shared by a large number of classrooms at each school, enabling students to participate in scientific experiments.
