BRIEF: Info sessions on California's Dream Act
Apr 18, 2012 (San Jose Mercury News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The California Student Aid Commission and other public and private groups will hold a California Dream Act Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to assist students in applying for 2012-13 California Dream Act financial aid.
The California Dream Act of 2011 allows undocumented students, who were brought to the United States before age 16 and have attended school in the state, to apply for college financial aid.
In the morning, live interactive training sessions will be held for high school counselors, college campus staff and others to learn about the aid application. From noon, students and parents may participate in interactive sessions about filling out the application. Some high school and college campuses have organized events around the sessions.
To register for Dream Act Day or to download the financial aid application, go to www.collegeweeklive.com/cacfc. The Facebook page for the event is www.facebook.com/cashforcollegecalifornia. Students who register will be entered in a contest to win one of two $500 scholarships.
Other sponsors of the day include California Cash for College, the California Dream Network and others.
