BRIEF: Hutchinson man makes first appearance on child porn [The Hutchinson News, Kan.]

(Hutchinson News, The (KS) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 31--A Hutchinson man made his first appearance in court Friday morning on a single count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Tad Darcy Russell, 36, was arrested at 10:05 a.m. Thursday at his residence in the unit block of East Second after Hutchinson police had been monitoring his home computer.

Detective Paul Sack said Russell had downloaded child pornography from a frequently used file sharing software called "Peer-to-Peer." Sack said there are no local victims and he didn't know how many total victims there were, but one of the children involved was between 6 and 8 years old. He also said detective Scott Carlton still is imaging the child pornography on Russell's computer.

Russell was a former employee at the Rusty Needle. An employee at Rusty Needle said Russell no longer works at the bar but would not comment on when Russell was fired.

Russell's bond was set at $10,000.
