BRIEF: Hollywood launching pay-by-phone parking service
HOLLYWOOD, Apr 13, 2012 (Sun Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Out of quarters for the meter?
Come Monday, parking on Hollywood's beach will be as easy as the push of a cell phone button.
The city is launching a pay-by-phone service called Parkmobile that allows drivers to use their cell phone to pay for parking at city-owned lots and garages at the beach and Holland Park.
To register online, go to http://www.parkmobile.com and download the Parkmobile app on your smart phones (iPhone, Android, Windows 7 or Blackberry). You can also call 877-727-5714 toll free to set up your account.
After signing up, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. They can also select the option to receive text message alerts and reminders.
Registered customers who use the system within the next 30 days will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a free iPad from Parkmobile.
The public is invited to a ceremony formally launching the service on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Johnson Street parking lot behind the Maurice Connell Parking Garage, Johnson Street and A1A on Hollywood beach.
