BRIEF: Free seminar asks 'Whither, cybersecurity?,' kicks off Wyatt Starnes Memorial Award series [The Oregonian, Portland, Ore.]

(Oregonian (Portland, OR) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 30--Cisco Corp.'s chief security officer, Tripwire's chief technology officer and Eid Passport's senior vice president for technical services headline a panel of cybersecurity experts who will discuss "The Future of Cybersecurity" at a free event at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at downtown Portland's Sentinel Hotel.

Cisco's John Stewart, Tripwire's Dwayne Melancon and Eid Passport's Abrar Ahmed will be joined by Rear Admiral Robert Williamson, (ret) and Pete O'Dell, who wrote "Cyber 24-7: Risks, Leadership and Sharing." The two-hour session, moderated by Business Journal publisher Craig Wessel, will include an audience question-and-answer period.

The session kicks off the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network Wyatt Starnes Memorial Award series. Starnes, who cofounded Portland's Tripwire and SignaCert, died suddenly this spring at age 59. The Oregon Entrepreneurs Network conferred the first Starnes award this month on Lindsay Nelson, chief executive of Portland's Theme Dragon.

While the event is free, space is limited. Guests should register at the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network site. (www.oen.org) -Mike Francis ___ (c)2014 The Oregonian (Portland, Ore.) Visit The Oregonian (Portland, Ore.) at www.oregonian.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
