BRIEF: Fort Worth officer not to be denied after his offer to help is denied

Mar 31, 2012 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- When a stolen vehicle broke down earlier this week, assistance from police is the last thing a couple wanted while trying to push the vehicle down the street.

The officer who stopped to help was commended for his actions on the Fort Worth Police Department's Facebook page.

On Tuesday at 7:39 a.m., the officer noticed a person pushing a stalled vehicle westbound in the 800 block of East Allen Street while another person was in the driver's seat.

The officer stopped and asked the couple if they needed help but both declined and started acting suspicious.

The officer began investigating and found the stalled vehicle was reported stolen March 25.

A 31-year-old man, who lives in the 900 block of East Allen Street, and a 46-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of auto theft, according to a police report.
