Dec 06, 2008 (Belleville News-Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Firefighters believe no one was injured in a fire that ravaged the newly opened Ryder's Inn in Highland on Friday afternoon.
The fire started about 4 pm. Friday in the tavern at 1301 Ninth St. The fire also damaged Sandy's Barber Shop, which is next door, and an apartment above the tavern.
James Hollenkamp, whose mother owns the building, said he believes the fire started in the Ryder's Inn office. The cause could not immediately be determined.
Firefighters from Highland and Highland-Pierron fire departments battled the blaze, Assistant Fire Chief Rick Bloemker said.
Ryder's Inn just opened in October.
