BRIEF: Electric department will store fiber-optic cable at sewer plant

ROCK FALLS, Nov 04, 2009 (Daily Gazette - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The city electric department will make some adjustments to its fiber-optic hub within the city's sewer plant.

The department plans to erect an 8-by-8-foot building to house its fiber-optic cable, which will eliminate any need to relocate the cable in the future, said Paul Jakubczak, the city's electric director.

The building in which the cable is stored now will be demolished to make way for sewer equipment.

The electric department needs to find a contractor to do the fiber-optic relocation work.

The new building will house fiber optics for the Community Health Clinic and Rock Falls High School, among other customers. The city hopes to do the work during the high school's winter break.
